SELVANE works long-term with traceable ranch partners across Mongolia and Inner Mongolia. Our primary sourcing region is Alxa (Inner Mongolia).

Wind and temperature shifts shape a denser undercoat—light, yet naturally warm. We harvest only between March and May, in harmony with the goats’ natural shedding cycle.

Beyond standard testing, we verify wear-feel at the garment level.

Any lot that fails to deliver coat-grade structure is not used—even from the same origin.

Fibers are opened and purified before spinning, then gently washed in multiple stages (at least 3 gentle washes, including degreasing and repeated rinsing). Water temperature, time, and mechanical action are controlled to avoid damage or felting. After pH stabilization and low-temperature drying, each lot is re-checked for cleanliness, residual oil, and loft recovery—so cashmere stays light, warm, and soft, while still supporting a coat silhouette.

Spinning

Developed with Consinee, one of the world’s leading cashmere spinners and a long-standing supplier to leading international luxury houses, using a custom yarn specification tailored to SELVANE’s standards for structure and hand feel.

Knitting

Built exclusively on top-tier flat knitting systems—STOLL (Germany) and SHIMA SEIKI (Japan). We knit slow for density and precision: about 60 runs/min on the needle bed (vs. ~150 runs/min on typical machines), creating a calmer surface and more controlled shrink.

Dye & finish

A gentler, plant-based dyeing and skin-friendly finishing route to preserve fiber character and improve comfort against skin.

Pre-shrink Finishing

Each piece is pre-washed and conditioned at least 3 times before it leaves our atelier. This helps stabilize the fabric—helps reduce post-wash shrinkage and keep sizing more consistent over time.

Hand techniques

Crochet, embroidery, burn-out, cutwork, and ink-wash effects are executed by 200+ in-house artisans, many with 30+ years of experience.
