Description
Line & Proportion
A long herringbone coat in quiet khaki, shaped by a shawl-inspired neckline and a self-tie belt—an elongated line with softened architecture.
Cultural dialogues around this piece
This silhouette appears in our visual stories that look at crossings, pauses and the quiet distance between arrivals and departures.
It is part of our ongoing study of presence — of how a clear line can frame motion without hardening it.
How it feels
Warm and structured at first touch, then unexpectedly fluid in motion. The wool–silk blend feels smooth and steady against the body, with a soft sheen that reads calm under shifting light. Layering stays easy through the interior finish—comfort that doesn’t disturb the outline.
Presence in motion
Inspired by the quiet authority of tailored making, this coat rethinks classic herringbone with sculptural clarity. A shawl-inspired neckline frames the wearer with soft architectural lines, while patch pockets and a subtly curved hem bring ease to the structure—refined, grounded, and steady in motion.
Materials & Care
Materials

73% wool, 22% silk, 5% nylon. The blend combines the warmth and structure of wool with the natural sheen and softness of silk. The herringbone weave adds depth and texture, while the smooth interior supports effortless layering and all-day comfort—helping the coat keep its tailored drape and longline silhouette.
Over time
With wear, the fabric relaxes subtly at the elbows and along the belt line, becoming more personal while keeping its overall clarity. Steam lightly when needed, let it rest between wears, and store on a supportive hanger to preserve the shoulder and neckline line.
Fit & Wear
Fit notes
- Tie the self-belt higher to lengthen the leg line; wear it looser for a straighter, calmer fall.
- Take your usual size for a precise, cropped silhouette.
- If you are between sizes and prefer thicker layers or a more relaxed line, size up.
Best for
Cold city days, long commutes, and winter travel—when you want one coat to hold a clean line from street to interior, and still feel light enough to wear for hours.

Sustainability
This piece is part of our edited, small-batch production in lambskin and wool. We design it to be worn over many seasons, and we share clear care guidance so it can move with you for longer.
The SELVANE standard
Every SELVANE piece is held to the same discipline:
- Drawn within our “architectural, never rigid” language — quiet lines that hold space without stiffening the body.
- Cut and finished in focused, small runs, so each silhouette can be refined and repeated rather than endlessly replaced.
- Described as it is: where it serves you best, and where it does not.
If a piece does not meet this, it does not carry the SELVANE name.
